The Day It Rains Jellyfish, 2025
Text my SisterPublication + Reading at Light Harvesting Complex (FI)
At Sunday 05.10 at 15.30, editor Myriam Gras will read an extract from the commissioned text from the publication called MEETING THE MONSTER AT EYE-LEVEL: On Dreams and Cosmopolitical Diplomacy by Erika Sprey, accompanied by words on fields of plants, dreams and resilience, written by Myriam and the artists. As it is getting colder in Helsinki, we serve some tea from the garden(s). Welcome!
PUBLICATION
The publication ties the three exhibitions of Text my Sister's year programme together. As working together and developing new/other/resilient ways of organising and to knowledge sharing is one of the operational pillars of Text my Sister, we are working on a rich publication that contains a variety of view points, which we see as necessary when making informed decisions towards a future that holds space for us all.
The publication will contain the essay The Day It Rains Jellyfish that Text my Sister’s Julia and co-curator Lennart have written collaboratively, accompanied by the curatorial statements of each exhibition and their sub themes, as well as a text written by experts from respective fields to take a deep dive and place the partaking works in a wider, societal framework.
As we see value in the exchange between theory and practice, Text my Sister invited the artists to share a tool or strategy of their choice. One of which they think can be used to enable thinking from an alternate angle, or one that creates or helps to deliver a convincing storyline. These are tools that they identify with, as something that empowers or reinforces their artistic research. These tools can be existing or imaginative, rooted in a specific work or present within their wider practice. The tools form the basis for the contributions to this publication, supplemented with interpretations, and existing text fragments, coming together as a composed toolbox, to be lent out through paper.
