2026, in production
short documentary film

Flowers of the Glacier is an ecological and poetic documentary that delves into the challenges posed by global warming, highlighting the resilience of both plants that adapt to the rapidly changing landscape and the scientists who study it.Located near Sweden's highest peak, the Tarfala research station hosts scientists from around the world for a few months every year to study this unique arctic environment. When, while cleaning the station, director Nina finds a long-forgotten herbarium compiled by Adélaïde Stork in the 1960s, she is astonished by the well-preserved collection of dried flowers. Seeing the object's scientific value in relation to melting glaciers, she assembles a team of botanists to visit the station and repeat the same research more than 60 years later.Through the efforts of three generations of female scientists, the film weaves together past and present, showcasing how intergenerational knowledge can spark hope and inspire action. It underscores the importance of empathy and collaborative practices, revealing how personal narratives can enhance and deepen scientific understanding.
Co-direction: Cyane Findji and Myriam Gras. Production: Mouka Film. With the support of Nordic Culture Point, SKR and Tarfala Research Station.

	Specularium, 2025
Photo Series
In collaboration with Juha Solantie, Paratiisin Hedelmät

With peach varieties being under threat due to the warming climate, hailstorms and lack of water, Specularium delves deeper into what it takes to relocate the production of the peach to the Northern hemisphere. The differing local characteristics of weather and soil make it extremely hard to duplicate a production process across territories, and gathering the knowledge to produce fruit locally takes a long time. The underlying thought of Specularium is how to move knowledge over time and space.

Specularium is a collaborative gesture by Myriam Gras and Juha Solantie, who has been successfully experimenting with growing stone fruits in the Helsinki region over the last 20 years through his project, Paratiisin Hedelmät. Showcased are the first photos of four young trees of various peach varieties planted in Juha’s garden. This is the beginning of a photo series in which the development of each tree will be documented on a monthly basis. The series registers their growth, the impact of the climate and seasonal changes, and processes such as the pruning of the tree. The documentation continues as long as the tree is growing in Juha’s garden.

The title refers to the roman-latin word ‘specularium’, meaning: the capacity of a surface material to be simultaneously transparent and reflective. This is the name given to the 1st greenhouse ca. 30 CE at Villa Jovis in Capri (IT). The word also refers to the act of speculation. This work approaches speculation as a powerful logic of contemporary life – of which art and finance are the most important examples – and will explore artistic, economic, and philosophical aspects, with excursions into literature and science. Both are based on the power of contingency, temporality, and experimentation in creating — and capitalizing on — possible worlds. In this context, both the work of the cultivator and that of the artist are seen as speculative acts and exemplars of creativity.

	THE PRICE OF BLOOM
Curated by Micol Curatolo
The Museum of Impossible Forms, Helsinki
solo exhibition
15.-24.8.2025

The exhibition ‘The Price of Bloom’ traces the journey of the fruit sold in Finnish grocery shops back to the south of Spain in Murcia, where large quantities of fruit are produced for the European market. The artist Myriam Gras follows the work of local peach farmers who narrate how the landscape and horticulture have been transformed by the expansion of agricultural technologies, the taste of consumers elsewhere, and the impact of climate change.

Known as “Europe’s Greenhouse”, since the 1970s, Murcia has been transformed from a deserted area into one of Spain’s most economically thriving regions. This was once established by the efforts of small family-owned farms. Today, the landscape is dominated by the economic and physical infrastructures of monoculture and ‘plasticulture’ – cultivation maximised under the controlled environment of large greenhouses.

Centred around the peach tree, the exhibition focuses on the network of workers, businesses and knowledges that act around fruit production. The peach tree embodies and resists these contradictions. Its pink bloom nestles between asphalt roads and the opaque luminescence of greenhouse plantations. Too sensitive to grow under mechanised conditions, the peach requires extensive manual labour and the development of new ways of knowing. Its flowers become a symbol of the potential worth of the harvest, and a metaphor – hidden behind the aesthetic expectations of global consumerism – of the rupture between production methods and environmental knowledge.

The public program invites initiatives based in Finland working on community-based agriculture, workers’ rights, and urban gardening. The exhibition hosts their practices to understand the impact that the agricultural industry has across locations. With their experiences, we learn about more sustainable and fair relations to land use, food production and consumption.

The exhibition is part of SLOW — Seasonal Laboratories for Other Worlds — a series of exhibitionary workspaces for collective laboring and alternative connections between bodies, places, and economies. Curated by Micol Curatolo with the Museum of Impossible Forms. Supported by Koneen Säätiö. Visual identity by Pauliina Nykanen.

15th August 2025, 17:00-21:00
BLOOD BERRIES: JUSTICE FOR THAI WORKERS IN THE FINNISH BERRY INDUSTRY
The activists of Verimarja present the latest developments of the human rights case opened by workers travelling from Thailand to pick berries for the Finnish industry. We gather a list of products to boycott and screen-print stickers with Groovink, to mark the produce in our local stores, growing awareness on this breach of international workers’ rights.
19th August 2025, 16:30-19:30CULTIVATING IN THE CITY: KOMBUCHA FLAVOURING AND TABLE-TOP DISCUSSION
How can we change our relation to food production and consumption as city dwellers? Urban gardening through community effort, horticulture in city allotments, or growing fruit on our balcony can be a response to the limitations of city life and the impact of climate change. We think through these questions with Dodo ry, an environmental NGO based in Pasila; researcher and artworker Joss Allen; and Juha Solantie who is growing and teaching about specialty fruit from his backyard in Pirkkola, Helsinki.
24th August 2025, 17:00-20:00
ALTERNATIVES TO THE GLOBAL FOOD MARKET: COMMUNITY SUPPORTED AGRICULTURE AND SOLIDARITY ECONOMY
Ruby van der Wekken is a producing member of Oma Maa food cooperative in Finland. Community supported agriculture schemes foreground the need to help farms and farmers practising sustainable agriculture, and this is a very important need to be acknowledged and acted upon. But beyond this, they are tools of hope! An invitation for all of us to explore the potential for social and ecological systemic change through our engagement with agriculture and food, whilst situating them within a wider project of envisioning and building solidarity economies.
During the finissage, we are accompanied by an Edible Landscape by Alejandra Alarcón and kombucha tasting by Dodo ry.

The Day It Rains Jellyfish, 2025
Text my Sister
Publication +
Reading at Light Harvesting Complex (FI)
At Sunday 05.10 at 15.30, editor Myriam Gras will read an extract from the commissioned text from the publication called MEETING THE MONSTER AT EYE-LEVEL: On Dreams and Cosmopolitical Diplomacy by Erika Sprey, accompanied by words on fields of plants, dreams and resilience, written by Myriam and the artists. As it is getting colder in Helsinki, we serve some tea from the garden(s). Welcome!

PUBLICATIONThe publication ties the three exhibitions of Text my Sister's year programme together. As working together and developing new/other/resilient ways of organising and to knowledge sharing is one of the operational pillars of Text my Sister, we are working on a rich publication that contains a variety of view points, which we see as necessary when making informed decisions towards a future that holds space for us all.

The publication will contain the essay The Day It Rains Jellyfish that Text my Sister’s Julia and co-curator Lennart have written collaboratively, accompanied by the curatorial statements of each exhibition and their sub themes, as well as a text written by experts from respective fields to take a deep dive and place the partaking works in a wider, societal framework.

As we see value in the exchange between theory and practice, Text my Sister invited the artists to share a tool or strategy of their choice. One of which they think can be used to enable thinking from an alternate angle, or one that creates or helps to deliver a convincing storyline. These are tools that they identify with, as something that empowers or reinforces their artistic research. These tools can be existing or imaginative, rooted in a specific work or present within their wider practice. The tools form the basis for the contributions to this publication, supplemented with interpretations, and existing text fragments, coming together as a composed toolbox, to be lent out through paper.

A Work in Progress: unwriting labour, 2025Some Fire to Melt These Icy Icy New Beginnings
Extrapool, Nijmegen (NL)Film screening, workshop
Curated by Myriam Gras, with Julia Fidder and Xenia Tsompanidou, as part of Text my Sister
This program of independent short films explores the changing landscapes of labour, examining its shifting meanings, challenges, and possibilities in a rapidly changing world. Through experiment and work with a powerful imagination, this program examines the intersections of technology, identity, economy, ecology, and humanity, offering a multifaceted lens on what it means to work in an age of automation, precarity, and innovation.

From poetic narratives of the rhythms of manual labour to a speculative vision of future society, these films confront the beauty, complexity, and absurd contradictions of human endeavor. How is technology redefining the role of labour in our lives? Who benefits and who is left behind in the relentless drive for progress?

Text my Sister engages with audiences to reflect on the intimate and global stakes of labor in our collective past, present, and future.

Programme March 2nd:

Curated and produced by Findji+Gras.
Helsinki Biennial Art Mediation Forum12.06-17.09.23 / Vallisaari Island, Helsinki (FI)Voices of the Baltic Sea: Science, Art and Action02.09.25 / Hanasaari Cultural Centre, Helsinki (FI)

Navigating Turbulence is an ongoing project developed by Findji+Gras. As for now it is composed of a site-specific sound piece and a published essay part of the Helsinki Biennial 23 Art Mediation Forum, and a performance developped for the Voices of the Baltic Sea Conference by the Institut Français de Finlande and Goethe Institut.
Anchored in the Baltic Sea’s late-winter, Navigating Turbulence brings artistic and scientific perspectives into dialogue around sea ice research, combining field encounters with experiments at the Aalto Ice and Wave Tank.-

The sound piece is intended for the ferry to Vallisaari and lasts for about the length of the trip. For the full experience, we recommend to start listening with your own device as soon as you get on board and enjoy the scenery. Listen to the sound piece here.We warmly thank Associate Professor Arttu Polojärvi (interview) and Doctoral Researcher Marek Muchow (interview) from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Aalto University, Doctoral Researcher Tim Hammer from TU Delft (poetry), Antoine Flahaut (sound editor) and Essi Pellikka (voice) for their openness and contributions.-The site-specific sound piece Navigating Turbulence came with the intention of expanding the visitor’s experience of the Helsinki Biennial, located on the island of Vallisaari. The Helsinki Biennial Art Mediation Forum 2023 is a collaboration between ViCCA (Visual Cultures, Curating and Contemporary Art) at Aalto University’s School of ARTS and the Helsinki Biennial 2023. The project focuses on mediation as an ‘articulation space’ for the biennial’s themes and artistic contributions. Helsinki Biennial 2023: New Directions May Emerge adopts its title from a quote by anthropologist Anna Lowenhaupt Tsing, who proposes learning from (the art of) “noticing”. It is curated by Joasia Krysa, with other curatorial intelligences — Museum of Impossible Forms, TBA21–Academy, Critical Environmental Data, ViCCA@Aalto Arts, and an AI entity.Voices of the Baltic Sea: Science, Art and ActionConference: Scientists, artists, and policymakers join forces to turn the challenges of the Baltic Sea into drivers of action.

The Helsinki Biennial Art Mediation Forum 2023: An AnthologyPublication2023 - HAM, Helsinki Art Museum Publication (FI)Editors: Bassam El Baroni and Patrizia Costantin. Contributors: Filipa Ramos, Adeena Mey, Lívia Nolasco-Rózsás, Cyane Findji and Myriam Gras, Aska Mayer, Martina Šerešová, Micol Curatolo, Julia Fidder. Commissioning Editor: Joasia Krysa. Graphic Design: The Rodina.
This publication is a compilation of newly commissioned essays and constitute the outcome of The Curatorial School of ‘May’, coming together in a sister publication to the Helsinki Biennial catalogue. Together with Cyane Findji, a method has been developed for thinking with the sea and embracing our environment as a complex, omnidirectional entity.“In a text titled Navigating Turbulence—Towards the Making of Space, Cyane Findji and Myriam Gras present an intriguing voyage that borrows from the investigative methodologies of geology to traverse the expansive maritime landscape of the Baltic Sea. The biennial and its context are here mediated through various island influences. The text seeks to explore the thematic framework of the biennial while making the primary focus water in its various material states. The trajectory proposed by Findji and Gras disrupts the established dichotomy between those confined to the mainland and those tethered to the islands. Instead, it advocates for a more fluid, experiential understanding of the biennial that is informed by the unseen that dwells beneath the sea surrounding Vallisaari. The text invites us to navigate the Baltic Sea vertically, to pierce its surface, plunging into its depths to explore the layers of contamination and resilience therein, engaging our senses in a multidimensional exploration. Once back on the surface, we re-emerge with what the authors define as manifold points of departure to be explored in our experience of the Helsinki Biennial 2023” eds. Bassam El Baroni and Patrizia CostantinWe would like to thank Arttu Polojärvi, Otto Puolakka, Alice Petry, Teemu Päivärinta and Lasse Turja of Aalto University, and Tim Hammer, Hayo Hendrikse, Laura van Dijke, and Tom Willems of TU Delft, as well as Cody Owen, who informed us about the current research and facilitated access to the Aalto Ice and Wave tank.

Residency + duo-exhibition26.06.-09.07.23 - Kunstpodium T, Tilburg (NL)Curated and produced by Julia Fidder and Myriam Gras. Participating artists: Thomas Swinkels Lennart Creutzberg.
The classic image of the tourist - equipped with camera including neck cord, selfie stick at the ready and preferably wearing white socks in sandals - can now be found almost everywhere. With a sharp eye, the tourist scans his surroundings to understand and interpret the new, unfamiliar place. In a way, the contemporary artist moves about in the same way as the tourist. Both the artist and the tourist have the ability to reformulate the already curated environments they visit. Retrieved information and experiences
are transformed into narratives that are often distorted, exaggerated and fragmented.
Philosopher Hiroki Azuma calls these tourist excesses the Postal Multitude; a situation consisting of multiple forms of misdelivery - information twisted in successive stages. This inauthentic experience is what benefits the artist in their practice - their work possesses the potential to make us imagine other realities.

former hometown of Tilburg from abroad. The exhibition will show work resulting from a working period at Kunstpodium T and recent works created in various locations in Europe. A subsequent publication reflects on the role of the artist as tourist within the itinerant existence of contemporary making.

ZICHT - the artist as tourist, is an exhibition that merges these opposing tropes - of not knowing or seeing and the act of generating new information and ways of perceiving. This concept shows both sides of movement, that of the place left behind and the place of arrival - formulated through the figure of the tourist. More specifically, the artist as tourist. Deriving from the philosophical framework of the Japanese literary critic and philosopher Hiroki Azuma in Philosophy of the Tourist, we propose a rethinking of moving in relation to tourism. Modern thinkers have tended to scoff at the movements of the tourist and its being as a figure of homogenising globalism; the tourist has become the epitome of how different cultures are transforming and becoming more and more alike. As the figure moves around, spending a relatively short amount of time at a place or site, it scans and observes its surroundings and curates its story before distributing it to their network, who on their end receive a collection of fragmented experiences and already translated or interpreted information. The artist itself moves in similar ways, duplicating fragmented layers of a specific site in its practice while finding ways of moving forward in today's world.
This essay focuses on both the artist and the tourist. We explore where these figures intersect and where they differ from each other. We want to illustrate how the behaviours of the tourist or the postal multitude can possibly change narratives embedded in specific locations, by highlighting different elements. It offers an alternative understanding of being in and moving through today's globalised landscape.
